Spirited Sri Lanka ride on Dinusha's fortitude to spoil the party for India

ICC World Test Championship A 1-0 series win for India was marred by a poor last day of the series in the field as Sri Lanka led a courageous fightback from a feeble position and secured a remarkable draw at the SSC, Colombo. Starting the day, 16 ahead of India's score with only four wickets in hand after being asked to follow-on, their young prodigy, Sonal Dinusha in company of the lower order tormented the bowling as they kept yearning for the elusive final four wickets. India were a tad casual at the start of Day 5 letting the game slip slightly and on a pitch which refused to break, their bowling line-up could not replicate the magic they showed until that point. India lost crucial WTC points with this draw which means they need to win almost every game from here to make a case for the final-two spot. There were many positives for the visitors from their series with the likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel and Manav Suthar putting in some exciting performances. However, the a...

ICC World Test Championship Unbeaten in their past 11 games versus Sri Lanka, India will are eyeing a hat-trick of series wins in the neighboring country when they take the field at the SSC on Sunday. Devdutt Padikkal's majestic hundred and the quality of Manav Suthar floored their opponents rather tamely with India winning the Test match by 165 runs at Galle in their 600th Test outing. The visitors did not miss a single beat from the moment they won the toss, completely annihilating their hosts and breaking their confidence which would please the management. There are no new injury concerns for them who may go unchanged for this fixture. It was a nightmarish start to the series for the hosts who were playing at their favorite venue. The poor form and another injury have forced changed to their 14-men squaf. Dinesh Chandimal was ruled out from the final clash due to a neck injury adding to their woes with the duo of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis already injured. Sri Lanka also n...

ICC World Test Championship The visiting Indian team completed an emphatic 165-run victory over the hosts Sri Lanka in their 600th Test match . Devdutt Padikkal, who replaced the injured Sai Sudharsan scored his maiden Test hundred and aggregated over 200 runs in this fixture, helping his side reach a total of 462 runs in the first innings, which laid the platform for this remarkable win in the 50th Test match at the Galle International Stadium. With the ball, Manav Suthar claimed his second fifer and a maiden career 10 wicket-haul as the Indian Bowling attack was too hot to handle for the Lankans. They now hold an unassailable 1-0 lead in this two-match series before the second Test begins at the SSC from Sunday. Rain tried to threaten the end result, but India just about sneaked in the final 6 wickets on Day 5, a few minutes before it started pelting heavily. The hosts would be disappointed by another sub-par effort from the batting line-up in home conditions, leaving them on the bri...

ICC World Test Championship India will be touring Sri Lanka to play a Test series for the first time since 2017. The two-match encounter starting on Saturday will be hosted at the Galle International Stadium and the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo. India last played a World Test Championship game in November 2025 although they did face Afghanistan for a one-off Test in June at home which they won by an innings and 300 runs. They have not lost a Test series to Sri Lanka since 2008 and are unbeaten in the past 10 Test matches between these two teams winning 8 of them. Shubman Gill will be leading the side with the visitors missing a number of players due to fitness issues. The hosts played Test cricket following a break of 1 year in West Indies last month losing the Sobers-Tissera trophy 1-0. The selectors announced their squad almost three days before the beginning of the opening match with a few personnel out because to injuries. Captain Dhananjaya de Silva will be hoping to put the dis...
