ICC World Test Championship Roston Chase and the West Indies finally achieved their maiden series victory since Feb 2023 and a first versus a top-eight ranked side, five years ago in March 2021 when they defeated England 1-0. Their coach Daren Sammy was delighted as West Indies emerged victorious against Sri Lanka in a Test series for the first time in 23 years. The home side won the opening game by a gap of an innings and 217 runs, their fifth successful match against the island nation in 25 attempts and the only one with an innings margin which was followed by a high-scoring draw on the same ground.  Sri Lanka, who were playing Test cricket after June 2025 began with a rusty display in the previous Test although they improved swiftly especially with the bat as they wrapped up the Caribbean tour on a sour note post a successful beginning. They won the ODIs 1-0 but lost 1-2 in the T20Is and 0-1 in the two-match face-off. However, the visitors did show some heart as they tried to pu...

ICC World Test Championship Five days after West Indies recorded their maiden victory of the current World Test Championship, they now have a chance to win their first Test series since Feb 2023. The West Indies Test side has been on a downward spiral for years now, highlighted by the fact that their previous series triumph against the top-seven came four years ago when they defeated England 1-0 at home four years ago. There have been sparks in the middle yet a consistent effort has been missing for quite some time. One of those sparks came in the opening game at Antigua, when Amir Jangoo, who came in as a late injury replacement for Shai Hope scored a double hundred in just his second Test match. His 233 combined with their captain Roston Chase's 194 gave West Indies their biggest result over Sri Lanka by a margin of an innings and 84 runs.  The 38-year old Kemar Roach etched his name in history by becoming the fifth bowler from the Caribbean to complete 300 Test Wickets and the f...

Captain Roston Chase finally tasted his first success as captain of the Test team after eight failed attempts winning the match by a margin of an innings and 217 runs totally decimating the visitors who were playing their first Test match since June 2025. Kemar Roach in his 89th Test match, became the fifth West Indian and 41st overall player to take 300 wickets in Test cricket. Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph who returned to the longest format post an injury lay-off in late 2025 took 4 and 3 wickets respectively. However, the match will be remembered for a 233 by 28-year old southpaw Amir Jangoo who also scored a hundred on ODI debut and was a Fpart of only his second Test match. Captain Roston Chase also scored a mammoth 194 in a 401-run partnership, the highest ever for 6th wicket in Test cricket. Jangoo...

ICC World Test Championship Sri Lanka's all-format tour to West Indies which started on June 3rd is currently all-square before the start of the last leg which features two Test matches. The tour began with a three-match ODI series in Kingston, Jamaica where the visitors won the first game but the next two matches were washed out giving the Lankan Lions a 1-0 series win. The T20I series was organized on the same ground which the hosts sealed 2-1 in a close battle. The action now moves to Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua which will host both Tests starting with the first one on Friday. Sri Lanka has never won a Test series in West Indies. Dhananjaya De Silva will lead the visitors who last played a Test match one year ago against Bangladesh at home. This will be their second series of the current World Test Championship where they are placed at the third spot, tied with New Zealand after one win and a draw in the 2 matches they have played until now.
